Only 230km from Paris, this beautiful city is a favorite getaway for Parisians during the summer and on weekends all year round.  Many have their summer homes here. 

After renting the same villa a few years in a row we decided to try another (even nicer) one for a couple of summers.

Deauville is on the Côte Fleurie--Flowery Coast--of Normandy.  Any visit to the area will show you how it got its name.

Deauville and it's sister city Trouville are the cradle of impressionist painting. This is where Boudin, mentor of Monet, painted his evocative seascapes.

Deauville has something for everyone:  horseback riding (my daughter), roller-blading (my son), relaxing at a cafe "sur les planches" (my husband) and biking (me)!

Deauville is the center of horse trading and racing. August is when all the races take place. 

In September Deauville hosts the American Film Festival.
